About AAUW

AAUW is a nationwide network of more than 150,000 members, 1,000 branches and 850 college and university partners.  Founded in 1881, the organization’s mission is the advancement of equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.

Membership is by application; all holders of a degree from an accredited college or university are welcome.  AAUW is dedicated to increasing diversity in our membership.

By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance for success.

AAUW is active in raising funds to help women reach their goals and achieve their full potential.  The AAUW Educational Foundation provides scholarships and grants for women and encourages individual donations.  The Legal Advocacy Fund helps to support women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination issues.

AAUW headquarters are located at 1310 L St. NW, Suite 1000, Washington, D.C., 20005, http://www.aauw.org.  The New York State website is www.aauw-nys.org.
